Want a Banksia but have soil with dubious occupants ie. root rot pathogens such as Phytophthora? This Hairpin Banksia might be the best solution. The eastern Australian members of the genus are “generally” less susceptible to these below ground trouble makers. This particular variety has a lignotuber which means it will sprout from the swollen base if it suffers stress from cold, kids and dogs or gardeners with a trimmer who think it would make a nice poodle shape… you think I’m joking right. An easy plant in the garden with masses of golden flowers.
